Total Stage® 18 Starter
A complete pelleted starter feed for calves and an alternative to traditional grain mix feeds. A precise combination of protein and fiber allows calves to grow muscle tissue quickly and safely. Total Stage 18 Starter is a first feeding stage option of the Total Stage™ Calf and Heifer Feeding Program. Available with Bovatec®, Decoxx® and Rumensin® This product contains BoVantage™ technology.
Feed a Kent Group Milk Replacer until 6 weeks of age or when calves have consumed 2 lb of starter per day for 3 consecutive days, whichever comes last (mix and feed according to the directions on Milk Replacer tags).
Start feeding Total Stage 18 Starter when calves are 3 days old. Place a fresh supply before calves each day. The amount fed may vary depending on calf genetics and management preferences. Feeding amounts may also depend on the type of medication in the feed. Follow recommended feeding directions on the product label. It is also recommended to feed forage when calves are consuming 7 to 8 lb post-weaning.
Recommended Medication Options
Bovatec® – improves weight gain and prevents coccidiosis.
Feed Total Stage 18 Starter 75B at the rate of 1 mg/2.2 lb body weight per day to dairy cattle weighing up to 800 lb. Do not feed more than 360 mg/head/day or 9.6 lb of lasalocid.
Rumensin® – improves weight gain and prevents coccidiosis. Feed Total Stage 18 Starter 60R at the rate of 0.47 – 3.33 lb per 100 lb body weight to provide 0.14 – 1.0 mg monensin per lb body weight per day depending on the severity of challenge up to a to a maximum of 200 mg/head/day of monensin (6.67 lb/head/day).
Decoxx® – prevents coccidiosis. Feed Total Stage 18 Starter 45DQ at the rate of 1.0 lb per 100 lb body weight to provide 22.7 mg of decoquinate per 100 lb of body weight. Feed for at least 28 days during periods of coccidiosis exposure or when experience indicates coccidiosis is likely to be a hazard.
