As a very good brown egg layer with large body size, Black Australorps are a great dual purpose breed. Their quiet, docile temperament makes them easy to handle and great for any flock!

Not only are Black Australorps popular for laying large brown eggs, they are also great for their hardiness and calm demeanor. As a mature chicken, they will have a beautiful, full black plumage that shows hints of a green sheen. Known to mature early, these birds are also very persistent in their laying – even in extreme weather conditions and on average, will lay around 250 eggs per year. Add to that their large body size and you’ve got a great dual purpose breed!
