A fun addition to any flock due to their feathered feet! The Light Brahma is a large, stately breed that is a good brown egg layer.
The Light Brahma is a very large bird, although it does take longer to grow to maturity. They were the principal meat bird in the US from around 1850 to 1930 as they can get to 12 pounds for roosters and 9 pounds for hens, but also make a great egg layer. They are known as good winter layers and are a very easy to handle breed. The feathered feet give them the appearance of wearing “boots” and have a lovely white plumage with black hedges.
