A FARM STAPLE FOR HORSES, LIVESTOCK & WILDLIFE
TCF Whole Oats are a versatile whole grain commonly used as a supplemental energy source in horse and livestock feeding programs. Oats can also be planted for fall forage, cover crops and wildlife food plots.
Feeding Oats to Horses
Whole oats are especially popular with horse owners because they provide a straightforward grain source that can be incorporated into a balanced feeding program.
For an average 1,000-lb adult horse, a practical starting range is approximately 2–4 lb of whole oats per day, divided into at least two feedings. The appropriate amount depends on the horse's body condition, activity level, forage quality and the rest of the ration.
Oats should not replace a properly balanced horse feed or vitamin/mineral program when the total diet does not otherwise meet the horse's nutritional requirements. Always provide adequate quality hay or pasture and fresh water.
Food Plot & Forage Use
Oats are an excellent choice for fall and winter wildlife forage and are highly attractive to deer and other wildlife. They establish quickly and provide tender green forage during the fall.
Oats can also be used as a cover crop or fall forage crop, making them a versatile option for farms and wildlife plots.
